Sony Fined $18.5 Million for Patent Infringement: Judge Says They Did it On Purpose

Over two years ago a company called Agere Systems filed a lawsuit against Sony for potentially violating patents on their "Wireless Local Area Network Apparatus". Now after two years of waiting the judge ruled in favor of Agere Systems and has penalized Sony $18.5 million for use of Agere's Technology in their devices which included the PSP. A thing to note about Agere System is that they don't do patents just waiting for somebody to use it and file a lawsuit and make bajillions. This is another story of a small company underdog winning against a goliath of a company like Sony.
